SHAOLIN JAZZ L!VE / The Ethiopia Edition / Recap

IMG_2185

Our most recent SHAOLIN JAZZ L!VE performance at Tropicalia, where we fused our musical influences from our trip to Ethiopia, was our best SHAOLIN JAZZ L!VE performance (to date) and most definitely ranks up there as one of our top SHAOLIN JAZZ events, period.  I can’t front, there were some elements of our production that we were late in cementing, but MAN did things work out!

Thanks to all of those who attended, props to Tropicalia for hosting us, salute to everyone that performed – giving the show the diversity and flavor that we were looking to create: Sound of the City, Wayna, Asheru and Rock, and Ras Nebyu and special thanks to everyone who helped to promote our show.  For more recap photos click Read the rest of this entry

SHAOLIN JAZZ L!VE – The Ethiopian Edition / Sound of the City

bbking25Meet Sound of the City – a highly notable DC area band, who will be performing throughout our live performance on Saturday.

Sound of the City Band is an all-star group, bringing together multi-talented producers, musicians, and artists. Sound of the City, lead by Biscuit Bynum (drummer) and Precious Joubert (leadbbking49 vocalist), has provided instrumental backing for many local, nation, and international artists.

S.O.T.C. has been called the primary sound behind DC’s underground music scene, along with being the most requested band on the east coast. These musicians have performed on tour with Raheem Devaughn [The Jill Scott Real Thing Tour 2008], and have performed in almost every major venue in the DC area including Constitution Hall, The Lincoln Theatre, The 9:30 Club, The Black Cat, The Birchmere, and the Merriweather Post Pavillion.

Sound of the City has played for and shared the stage with many major artists such as Jill Scott, Marsha Ambrosius, Chrisette Michelle, Keyshia Cole, Algebra Lessett, Joe, Raheem Devaughn, Glenn Lewis, Chuck Brown, Floetry, Biz Markie, Ledisi, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Premier, Wu Tang, and many more….
