We’re pleased to announce our newest SHAOLIN JAZZ design: “Influences.” “Influences” is a series that takes stylistic cues from pop art and graffiti and fuses them with SHAOLIN JAZZ’s more specific cultural influences of hip-hop, jazz, and martial arts. Our goal with each design, starting with “Influences 1.0,” is to tell a story that pays homage to our creative make-up, provide, if you look closely, a visual history lesson, and give insight into SHAOLIN JAZZ’s cultural DNA. Introducing our “Boom Boxing” design – inspired by the Shaolin martial arts technique known as “shadow boxing,” our “boom boxing” graphic also draws #inspiration from #popart aesthetics and is the latest #design from @latenightgenius‘ visual language highlighting the parallels between hip hop and jazz. Customize and purchase here.
Check out our “Compass” lightweight sweatshirt. French terry cloth and cotton with raglan sleeves for a vintage inspired fit. Our sweatshirts are WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) certified. Customize and purchase yours here.

Our return to Songbyrd after our month long CAN I KICK IT? series at Freedom Plaza, had some minor hurdles (arrive early for seating), but was a good time. We’re now downstairs, for the next few months, and Songbyrd’s performance space is a great fit allowing for people to chill out and enjoy the movie.
Thanks to everyone who attended, Sonbyrd for hosting, props to Efua’s Baby (pop-up shop), and salute to everyone who helped spread the word.
And if you missed this month be sure to check us out next month Aug. 22nd for Shaolin vs Ninja.

We’re pleased to announce that, after last month’s successful outdoor series at Freedom Plaza, we’re back at Songbyrd Music House & Record Cafe for our next edition of CAN I KICK IT?, Tues July 25th, screening the cult classic Marked for Death starring Steven Seagal, 6 – 10 PM, FREE.
We’re pretty excited about this month’s screening, as we’ll be conducting CAN I KICK IT? downstairs in Songbyrd’s music house, so please take note.
At this month’s event we’re happy to announce that the pop-up shop (also located downstairs) will feature Efua’s baby – a Washington, DC woman owned business offering high quality handmade products including 100% all natual soy & coconut oil candles, body butters and other products.
