Join us, Tues Nov 26th at Songbyrd, for our annual anime CAN I KICK IT? film, where this year we’re featuring the late 80’s classic Fist of The North Star.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world that has been destroyed by a nuclear war, the story centers on a warrior named Kenshiro, the successor of a deadly martial art known as Hokuto Shinken, which gives him the ability to kill most adversaries from within through the use of the human body’s secret vital points.
DJ 2-Tone gets things started at 6:30 PM and the movie starts around 7:30. For more info/RSVP click here.
CAN I KICK IT? returns, next Thurs. Nov. 21st, to Creative Alliance (Baltimore) for another exciting night of Hip Hop, Martial Arts, Rare Grooves and more as we screen Bruce Lee’s legendary film Enter The Dragon.

Say hello to “The Future (part 2)” – a design influenced by tomorrow’s fonts fused with those of today, which ties back into our music projects where we’ve cleverly blended jazz classics with Wu-Tang acappellas.
“The Future” is a series where SHAOLIN JAZZ is used as iconography and or the backbone of the art.

We had lots of moving parts, but a great time was had by all at the opening party that we flipped for DC Design Week at Big Chief in DC.
From our live stenciling station on the roof-top featuring stencils thematic of DC, Go-Go, and SHAOLIN JAZZ, to an exhibition and talk about the classic event posters from Globe Posters highlighting DC’s legendary Go-Go (and events) scene from MICA’s Allison Fisher, to a talk about the storied origins of Go-Go music, the bands and people who paved the way, and its influence on the city and the music industry by notable music journalist and DC native Marcus K Dowling, a conversation about the DC music scene through pictures by noted photographer Joshua Cogan, all the while DJ RBI providing a well curated soundtrack that helped guide the evening’s activities from start to finish.
Thanks to AIGA DC and DC Design Week for tapping us to help them help celebrate this years programming, salute to Big Chief for hosting, and thank you to everyone who attended.

There’s a great deal of enjoyment when a client wants you to be apart of their programming, but it feels even better when that same client wants to bring you back and this certainly was the case with The Kennedy Center who asked us to be apart of the launch festival for their new state-of-the-art REACH Center – a new multipurpose venue designed to help artists bring their creative pursuits to life.
The entire festival is actually 2 weeks of programming (over 400 events) with our scheduled date featuring all hip-hop based performances and engagements from local DC acts such as Kokayi to national legends – De La Soul, all happening simultaneously which allowed for attendees to fully explore the REACH Center and its various studios, multimedia spaces, and world-class works of art.
And despite all that was happening, which included DJ sets by Bobbito Garcia and workshops by Words, Beats, and Life, we held down a capacity crowd for our screening of the 90’s classic BLADE starring Wesley Snipes. Add to that a continuous line out of the door and a visit of our screening by hip-hop legend Q-Tip, who The Kennedy Center appointed as its first Artistic Director of Hip Hop Culture.
Thanks to The Kennedy Center for bringing us back and thank you to everyone who attended.
