CAN I KICK IT? / Art All Night / Recap

(photo: jgyszn)

Despite some untimely tech issues, our experience at Art All Night couldn’t have gone better and we certainly hope that we were able to deliver a memorable experience for everyone who attended.

The good weather helped set the stage, which allowed Terence Nicholson to set the tone with another fiery martial arts demonstration, and it was great getting to vibe with old friends while creating new ones through educating them on the history of SHAOLIN JAZZ and what we do.  The corner of North Cap and Florida will never be the same.

Thanks to Art All Night for having us out, shouts to JaMon for both documenting the event and assisting with the merch table, props to everyone who helped spread the word, including those who posted recaps, and thanks to everyone who attended.

Stay tuned for more and to check out the full recap click Read the rest of this entry

CAN I KICK IT? at Made in Hong Kong Film Festival / Recap

Our summer continues to shine and its been an absolute blessing for SHAOLIN JAZZ to have been granted these opportunities.

Our CAN I KICK IT? screening at the Freer/Sackler Gallery’s (The Smithsonian) Made in Hong Kong Film Festival was, from start to finish, nothing short of a good time.  2-Tone not only rocked the opening reception (which included live Martial Arts demonstrations, curated food and cocktails) but, immediately after the reception he proceeded downstairs to setup for and rock our screening, to a maximum capacity crowd, of the Shaw Bros’ 80’s classic Legendary Weapons of Kung Fu.

This event represented a couple of firsts for us, in that not only was this our first time conducting CAN I KICK IT? in a film festival, but that this was our first time (and hopefully not our last) rocking for a standing room only crowd.

Thanks to Tom and his team at the Freer/Sackler for once again bringing us back for another event, props to everyone who helped spread the word, special shouts to Ja’Mon for helping to hold down the merch table as well as shooting, and thanks to everyone who attended.  Your support is very much appreciated.
