For the past two years we’ve been doing customized fortune cookies to further the CAN I KICK IT? experience. The quotes range from lines from various movies that we screen as well as quotes from some of our favorite rap songs. Collect the range and see you on 2.26.19 at Songbyrd for Tai Chi Master. For our last CAN I KICK IT? of 2018 and to follow up our sold out Kennedy Center event, we had to bring the heat and what better way to do so than with The Big Boss starring the incomparable Bruce Lee, which was his first US movie.
We’ve got some great surprises lined up for our 2019 season including an amazing lineup of cult and contemporary classic martial arts films. Thanks to everyone who’s attended any of our CAN I KICK IT? events, including our Kennedy Center show, shouts to everyone who’s helped and spread the word, and props to Songbyrd for hosting. Your platform is much appreciated.

On Tues. we introduced CAN I KICK IT? to 2018 and what better way to bring in the new year than doing so in-style. Nu Wears, a new men’s accessories line by notable producer SlimKat76, held down the pop-up shop – upping our “style game” as well as the “style-game” for those fashion-forward people who bought the brand’s hand crafted ties and handkerchiefs.
Thank you to everyone who attended, props to Songbyrd for hosting and shouts to Terry for holding down the bar, salute to Nu Wears for supporting, and much appreciated to everyone who spread the word. Lastly, salute to DJ Iran for dropping some gems on the turntables. If you stayed long enough you got blessed with some rare samples.
Next up, on Tues. Feb. 27th we bring you a classic from the Jackie Chan archive – Drunken Master. See you then and for the full recap click Read the rest of this entry
Taking risks are apart of business, but when you build your brand a certain way and you plan and execute your marketing strategy properly those risks pay off and our final CAN I KICK IT? of 2017 exemplifies that risk, as we decided to conduct it the day after Christmas, despite a number of people responding after hearing the news, “You’re going to it when?” and “Are you sure, its the day after Christmas?”
The answers to those questions came in the form of us having our biggest crowd to date at Songbyrd, where standing-room-only quickly came into effect. And the irony is that Songbyrd actually bought more chairs which was great because they did get used, however, the demand persisted.

We’re closing out the year with heat and last week’s CAN I KICK IT? exemplified that to the fullest as we screened the anime classic Ghost In The Shell. Thanks to everyone who attended, those who helped spread the word, salute to the Crochet Kingpin who rocked the pop-up shop, and props to Songbyrd for hosting.
