Please join us, Tues June 13th, for the second film in our summer flicks series – The Matrix. We’ll of course be conducting the screening at Freedom Plaza. Activities will start at 7:30 p.m. with DJ 2-Tone Jones warming up the crowd, you can also enjoy our CAN I KICK IT? themed happy hour at Boss Shepherd’s Restaurant & Whiskey Bar (located across the street) from 2:30-7:30 p.m., play some ping-pong on site at Freedom Plaza, and the film will begin promptly at 8:30 p.m. For additional info and to RSVP click here.
We’ve been working on this for a minute and now we’re pleased to announce that we’re teaming up with the DowntownDC BID to conduct a series of CAN I KICK IT? events for their first outdoor screening series called DowntownDC Summer Flicks. Every Tuesday in June we’ll be screening one of the four movies above in downtown Washington, DC at Freedom Plaza. The events are free, all ages, and open to the public. In the spirit of the upcoming Kung Fu Wildstyle art exhibition (at the Freer Sackler Gallery), by Fab 5 Freddy and MC Yan, we’re pleased to announce that SHAOLIN JAZZ has been asked to conduct a special edition of CAN I KICK IT?, where we’ll be screening the 1970’s classic 5 Fingers of Death. The kickoff event will take place at Hyphen DC on Saturday April 1st from 8 pm – 12 am (screening starts at 9:30 pm). For more info/RSVP click here.
Our two days of programming at West Virginia State University (an HBCU and our first college/university engagement of 2017) turned out to be one of our best experiences at a college or university, to date. The town has crazy hidden cultural gems and the school has this chill familial vibe.
