Anybody that knows me knows that I rarely go out, except when I’m involved with an event, but when I got the word from Quartermaine that Diamond District, fresh off of their European tour, would be having their first ever DC performance there was no doubt I wasn’t going to miss it.
The show was dope! Separately, Oddisee, yU, and XO are all seasoned vets but to see them live/collectively definitely takes the Diamond District experience to the next level. My 1 and ONLY gripe – the venue didn’t allow photos, not even for press?! OK, you’re a NEW venue and you don’t want pics to help promote your NEW venue in a digital age? I’ll leave it at that, but yeah I took one anyway, F@*K that!.
At any rate, after their set I chilled at Patty Boom Boom’s for a sec. partly to check out DJ Super Slice’s party (dude is a straight legend) , partly to also peep the scene since that venue will be hosting my next album cover art exhibition, and lastly because their patties are hands down THE best – maybe on the east.
