COLOR of SOUND – BROOKLYN WILDLIFE + SHAOLIN JAZZ – NYC 2013 – Recap
Our latest edition of COLOR of SOUND, which was brought to you by the good people of BROOKLYN WILDLIFE, was CRAZY from start to finish. For starters, after the lecture 2-Tone and I gave at the Miami Ad School (Brooklyn campus), we get back to the gallery to find a hip-hop icon – Fab 5 Freddy checking out the show. Chris (BKWLDLFE) told me he gets prints made at a shop that’s located in the same building as Fuchs Projects (the gallery that hosted the event), BUT the fact that he chilled and liked what he saw, set the tone.

In our early planning, 2-Tone and I weren’t sure how this event would go down. We’ve done events in NYC but never in Brooklyn, however, when you’ve got good partners and a strong team and both are passionate about what they do then your chances are pretty good.
Long story short, Brooklyn showed up. We had a deep crowd from start to finish with die-hards staying till the very end. Shouts and thanks to all those that attended, Chris Carr and Kevin Lay (BROOKLYN WILDLIFE) for integrating us into their 12 days of Art programming, Rafael Fuchs (owner of Fuchs Projects) who not only provided the space but also showed some of his amazing hip hop photography, Zoe Beatwoman - a talented videographer who not only created a video especially for the event but who also hung our show, Alexis Jackson (Madison Davenport PR), Chairman’s Reserve Rum, Beck’s Beer, vitaminwater, DJ Pudge, and the homie Soul 1 for once again letting us crash. I’m still sorting through tons of recap photos so please continue to check back for updates.
